This all started in June 2015
Top Motion and Mobility Inc. submitted the Expression of Interest to attend the Accessibility Innovation Showcase. Our Application was accepted and preparation for the event began.
The Accessibility Innovation Showcase is a first-of-its kind event hosted by the Ontario government, in association with the U.S. Consulate General, to raise the profile of accessibility, demonstrate advances in technology and market-ready innovations, and stimulate investment as well as growth of the industry.
On the Friday evening semi-finalists practiced their pitches with coaches to learn numerous ways to best structure a pitch to capture the interest of the investment community.
On the Saturday Canadian and USA dignitaries including the Honorable Elizabeth Dowdeswell Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Hon. Bruce Heyman U.S. Ambassador to Canada, Hon. Kathleen O. Wynne Premier of Ontario, and Hon. John Tory Mayor of Toronto. After a few amazing speeches the Accessibility Innovation showcase officially opened with a ribbon cutting. More than 50 companies got ready to present their innovative products to the public. Hundreds of people visited the exhibition floor on that day. The wave of people visiting the exhibition floor was astounding.
In the semi-final, 18 companies had the chance to deliver their competitive tech pitch (Top Motion and Mobility Inc. were honored to participate) in front of a esteemed panel of judges.
The judges selected 5 companies to move to the final day of competition
The final day of the event saw hundreds of people continuing to visit the exhibition floor and our booth, where we had the pleasure to present our innovative products such as our Pressure mapping diagnostic system and Kidcar, a powered mobility device for children.
All in all this was an extremely inspirational showcase that I had the pleasure of attending. I learned a ton and also created some great connections that will help to continue build Top Motion Mobility. A special thanks goes out to all participants, the judges, our honorary guests, and everyone that had a hand in putting on what was a great experience.
